The largest health screening event in Hays County, Central Texas Medical Center?s HealthCheck, will be held on Thursday, April 26, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos. Along with expanding this year?s event to include several more free screenings and services, five physician presentations and four fitness demos will take place throughout the day.
The following is a schedule of the physician presentations, which will cover diabetes, women?s health, stroke, heart disease and cancer. All are subject to change based on the physicians? patient care schedules:

Last year, more than 1,900 area residents registered for screenings and more than 1,600 participated in HealthCheck directly. CTMC encourages the community to take advantage of this affordable resource to create better health.
?We are delighted to be offering more choices during HealthCheck,? said Clay DeStefano, CTMC Administrative Director of PR and Marketing. ?By offering a larger variety of screenings, we are providing a greater opportunity for people to get a truer picture of their own personal health status.?
A low $45 fee covers nearly $300 in testing via the basic HealthCheck screening panel, which includes a complete metabolic Panel (screening for glucose and renal and liver disorders); Lipid panel (Cholesterol with HDL/LDL breakdown, triglycerides); and complete blood cell count for hematology disorders, including white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets. This year, around 70 vendors will be present at HealthCheck. As a result of new partnerships with the City of San Marcos Healthy City Task Force, the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the San Marcos Daily Record,? this year?s event has been expanded to include a ?second-half of the expo hall? with wellness, fitness and nutrition exhibitors. Texas State University?s CAMCO? is again joining the event and will help bring more cancer-focused exhibitors.
